Last year, the number of foreigners visiting the country declined as the government suspended visa-free entry and visa-waiver programs, while other countries imposed entry bans on Koreans.
In April last year, the government imposed restrictions on the entry of foreigners traveling without a basic and urgent reason in order to prevent the flow of the virus.
The number of these foreigners decreased by 46.8 percent on an annual basis to 233,000 last year. The number of foreigners who left the country also decreased by 15% to 362,000.
