Algeria records the highest daily infection rate in Corona since the beginning of the pandemic.. 1197 cases


On Friday, the Algerian Ministry of Health announced the registration of 1,197 cases of coronavirus, which is the largest number of infections in one day since the outbreak of the epidemic in March of last year, according to the Russia Today website.

 

In its statement, the Ministry of Health indicated that "the outcome of the past 24 hours was 1,197 new cases, 588 cases of recovery and 15 deaths."

 

The total number of deaths in the country reached 3,910, while the number of injuries increased to 151,103 cases, and the number of people who recovered was 104,397 people.

 

The Algerian authorities launched a massive vaccination campaign two weeks ago in the country, including hospitals, clinics, spaces, public squares and mosques every Friday. The Ministry of Health aims to “vaccinate 60% of the population of 44 million people.

 

For his part, the head of the infectious diseases department in a hospital near the Algerian capital, Mohamed Yousfi, blamed the government and citizens for the high number of infections.

 

Yousfi called on the authorities to speed up the vaccination of "at least 20 million Algerians everywhere and quickly, using all possible places" to obtain herd immunity.
