Dean of the Institute of Oncology: Cancer patients can get the Corona vaccine, but with conditions


Hatem Abu Al-Qasim, Dean of the National Cancer Institute, confirmed that the institute did not stop caring for patients even during the spread of the Corona pandemic, saying: “We advise Corona patients to take the vaccine, but not while receiving treatment, it can be taken before or after the completion of treatment, it cannot be taken during He received chemotherapy."


 

He added to "The Seventh Day" on the sidelines of the Gastrointestinal, Liver and Urology Oncology Conference currently being held in Cairo: "We have made renovations to the southern building, and it is currently being prepared and after its completion at the end of the year it will increase the total capacity of the institute by 50%, and it will contain operating rooms, intensive care and operations today." He explained, "The institute receives more than 1,000 patients per day from different governorates, between surgical and radiological treatment and follow-up, and we perform 15 major operations per day, 30 minor operations, and from 30 to 40 interventional radiology interventions, about 400 patients receiving chemotherapy, and about 200 A patient receiving radiotherapy.



Dr. Hatem Abu Al-Qasim pointed out that the institute receives 250 thousand patients annually, and although the institute suffers from overcrowding, we provide services to the patient at the highest level.


He continued: “The institute is 10 years old and modern technologies are available at the institute, and the robot has been around for 10 years, and we apply all modern protocols in treatment, and during the pandemic, we did not stop and take our precautions by reducing the number of patients in the rooms and preventing visitors and escorts, and we care that the patient takes his treatment, and we disinfect The institute is at the end of every day, and all precautionary measures are in place."
