Palestinian Foreign Ministry: The occupation government’s agreement to partially evacuate “Abitar” aims to legitimize it

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates considered that the agreement concluded by the ruling Israeli coalition regarding the evacuation of settlers from the “Abitar” settlement outpost and the preservation of the settlement buildings and their transformation into a military barracks, is an attempt to whitewash and legitimize this colonial outpost.

The ministry stated - in a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency, today, Tuesday, that it is an open step to perpetuate the confiscation of Jabal Sabih and build a large settlement on it that serves Israel's strategic plans and interests in horizontal linking between the Israeli depth and the Jordan Valley, passing through the settlement blocs located in the area.

She added, that evacuating settlers from the outpost and reoccupying it with forces of the occupation army stationed at the top of Jabal Sabeeh, brings to mind the scenario of establishing hundreds of settlements in the occupied West Bank, which begins with military barracks, closed military areas, or outposts before being converted into settlement towns and cities.
