The World Bank revealed in a recent report that the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic was an exciting test of the effectiveness of digital solutions across the Middle East and North Africa region, from the ocean to the Gulf.
He noted that by making cashless payment methods widely available and universal access to affordable services for broadband communications, it is a major factor in facilitating the digital transformation and an important driver of the economic recovery.
He added that high-level speakers at a recent event shared their strategies that have successfully promoted digital government and digital businesses.
Their visions and ideas on the steps forward to accelerate the adoption of digital payment methods in the Middle East and North Africa were also presented as a fundamental pillar of the digital transformation map in the region.
The World Bank stated that the aim of this electronic seminar, which was organized in partnership with the Arab Monetary Fund, is to increase awareness of digital payment methods and how they can support efforts to create jobs, enhance service delivery, and contain youth and women.
The target audience includes policy makers, regulatory officials, representatives of regional institutions, providers of financial technology services, as well as business enterprises from the private sector, and stakeholders from civil society organizations.
The event also included a discussion session and videotaped testimonials from civil society organizations and the private sector, an outlook for the next step in the digital transformation in the Middle East and North Africa, and a call to action to support digital payment methods across the region.
