The European Union Summons the Ambassador of Belarus to Protest the "Ryanair" Accident


On Monday, the European Union summoned the Belarusian ambassador to the Union, Alexander Meknevich. To protest against the accident that forced a Ryanair plane to land at Minsk airport, and the arrest of journalist and opposition activist Roman Protasevic.

 

In a statement, the European Union said that the Belarusian ambassador to the Union, Alexander Meknevich, was summoned, at the request of the High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, to protest against the unacceptable step taken by the Belarusian authorities, forcing a civilian plane to make a forced landing in Minsk, and arresting a passenger on board.
