Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of the Public Business Sector, held a meeting with the delegated members of the cotton, spinning and weaving companies affiliated to the ministry, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, president of the Holding Company for Cotton and Spinning and Weaving, and the two managing directors for financial and technical affairs.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed, according to the ministry's statement, the latest developments regarding construction work and the modernization of the structure of spinning and weaving factories, which include 65 buildings between new constructions and restoration, with an estimated cost of about 7 billion pounds, and it is expected to be completed in the middle of next year.
The position of developing the training center for workers of the Mahalla Spinning Company, which is considered the destination for workers in the textile industry in Egypt, was also reviewed, and it is scheduled to open in June 2021, as the machines that will be used in the training are being installed.
In this regard, Hisham Tawfiq stressed the need to complete all work according to the schedule set for the development project, taking into account the procedures and preparations for installing modern machines after the completion of the construction work.
Regarding the development of cotton gins, the minister followed up on the situation regarding the three new gins that were recently completed in Zagazig, Kafr El Zayat and Kafr El Dawar, where some machines have arrived and the rest of the equipment is being supplied in preparation for their installation and operation of the three gins during the next cotton season 2021/2022.
