A 30-year-old letter was discovered in a bottle found near Lake Alberta, Canada, and the woman who found it said she could not be happier, according to The Independent.
Michael Schwingler told Global News that she discovered the bottle during cleanup operations in a lake in Leduc, and opened the bottle to find a note with illustrations of a house of a young girl dating back to 1993.
Ms Schwingler said: "I thought I left many messages in bottles as a child, and now I find a message."
Stirring her curiosity, Schwingler set out on a mission to locate the author of the letter, posted a picture of the note on her social media, and said someone quickly reached out within 24 hours to say they were friends with the girl who wrote the letter at school.
"She called me to say I might have put a message in a bottle," Schwingler said.
"I vaguely remember writing it and throwing it into the lake with my friend," said Daryl Ann Stephen, who wrote it. "It's really cool that it's still there, that you see my writing many years later still on the page and still read. It was so cool." .
