Egypt reserves 10 seats in the quarter-finals of the World Squash Championship


5 Egyptian players have booked their seats in the quarter-finals of the World Squash Championship, which is currently being held in Chicago from 14 to 22 July, with monetary prizes of up to $500,000 for men and the same for women, after the end of the round of 16 competitions, which continued until the early hours. On Monday morning, Karim Abdel Gawad, Mohamed El Shorbagy, Salma Hani, Nouran Gohar and Fares El Desouky qualified to join the quinquennial qualifiers during yesterday's competitions.


Nour El-Sherbiny, ranked first in the world, Ali Farag, ranked first for men, Hania El-Hamami, ranked fifth, Tariq Momen, ranked third and defending champion, and Marwan El-Shorbagy, ranked fifth, have qualified for the quarter-finals of the world championship during yesterday's competitions, thus ensuring Egypt 10 seats in the men's and women's competitions


The results of today's matches were as follows:


Mohamed El-Shorbagy defeated Welshman Joel McCain 3-0, and the results of the games were as follows: 11-4, 11-7, 11-7.


Nouran Gohar defeated Welshman Tesney Evans 3-0, and the results of the games were as follows: 12-10, 11-4, 11-8.


Faris El-Desouky defeated Muhammad Abu Al-Ghar 3-1, and the results of the matches were as follows: 11-6, 11-13, 11-7, 12-10.


Karim Abdel Gawad defeated French Baptiste Massotti 3-1, and the results of the games were as follows: 8-11, 11-0, 11-7, 11-4.


Nadine Chahine defeated New Zealander Joel King 3-0,


The results of the runs were as follows: 11-8, 11-3, 11-5.


Salma Hani defeated Rawan El-Araby 3-1, and the results of the runs were as follows: 8-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-6.


Tarek Moamen, Al-Jazira player, ranked third in the world for men, and Nour El-Sherbiny, a Sporting player, ranked first in the world for women, are the two holders of the championship title for the last edition.


This version is also considered a watershed in determining the men's world ranking, especially with the narrowing of the difference between Ali Farag, the Wadi Degla player, who is ranked first in the world, and Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, the second ranked.
