Algeria announces the reopening of the land border with Niger


Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced the reopening of the land border with Niger, and the two countries agreed to activate cooperation on many issues. Tebboune said in a joint press conference with his Nigerien counterpart Mohamed Bazoum, in Algiers: "We agreed to open the border between the two countries" closed by Algeria. For security reasons since 2012, he pointed out that it was also agreed to activate and encourage border trade between the two countries.


According to "Russia Today", Tebboune explained that the talks between the two sides led to a "complete agreement" between the two sides on all issues related to security cooperation, oil, trade exchange at the borders and the field of irrigation.


An agreement was also reached between the two countries regarding Nigerian workers coming to Algeria and the field of training and training that Niger needs from Algeria. For his part, President Bazoum described the talks as fruitful, and said that it was agreed on issues of joint cooperation in accordance with the interests of the two countries.
