A joint statement between Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman regarding the coordination of the two countries in various fields

The statement, published by the Saudi News Agency, SPA, stated that in response to a generous invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, paid a state visit to the Kingdom, and a session of talks was held between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. They affirmed their determination to raise the pace of economic cooperation between the two countries by stimulating the public and private sectors to reach qualitative trade and investment exchanges that achieve the aspirations of the two peoples and contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040, and by launching a set of joint initiatives that include major areas of cooperation, including investments in the region. Duqm, cooperation in the field of energy, in addition to partnership in the field of food security, and cooperation in various cultural, sports and tourism activities. The two sides affirmed the strengthening of cooperation in the fields of environment, food security and the Green Middle East initiative announced by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, due to its benefits at the local, regional and global levels.

 

The two sides praised the efforts of the OPEC Plus countries, led by the Kingdom and with the participation of the Sultanate of Oman, which led to the stability and balance of oil markets, despite the weak demand that the markets suffered as a result of the waves of the Corona pandemic that still affects a large part of the world. They stressed the need to continue cooperation to support the stability of oil markets.

 

They also welcomed the strengthening of cooperation on the implementation of the circular carbon economy approach approved by the Group of Twenty as an integrated and comprehensive framework to address the challenges arising from greenhouse gas emissions and their management through available technologies, as an approach that represents an economically sustainable way to manage emissions through the application of its four elements, namely reduction, reuse and reuse. Recycling and removal, and the two sides noted the importance of adopting renewable energy sources and technologies, in order to contribute to the sustainability of energy supplies globally.

 

They agreed to direct the concerned authorities to study opportunities for mutual investment between them in advanced technologies, innovation, energy projects, renewable energy, industry, health and pharmaceutical industries, real estate development, tourism, petrochemicals, manufacturing industries, supply chains, logistical partnership, information technology and financial technology that benefit both countries. Taking into account the available possibilities and ambitious opportunities, the two sides also welcomed the participation of Saudi companies to invest in the quality projects that the Sultanate seeks to achieve.

 

The two sides also exchanged views on issues and issues of concern to the two countries on the regional and international arenas, and affirmed work to coordinate their positions in a manner that serves their interests and supports and enhances security and stability in the region and the world.

 

On the Yemeni issue, the two sides affirmed the congruence of their views on continuing their efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni National Dialogue Conference, UN Security Council Resolution No. (2216), and the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the Yemeni crisis and alleviate suffering.
