The Secretary-General of the United Nations celebrates World Albinism Day: violence against them must end


UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his solidarity with people with albinism on World Albinism Day, stressing the need to end misconceptions, discrimination and violence against them, saying: "I urge all countries and societies to act on the human rights of all persons with albinism."


"On the International Day of Albinism, I reiterate my solidarity with people with albinism, we must demystify the situation and end misconceptions, discrimination and violence, I urge all countries and societies to act on the human rights of all persons with albinism," Guterres said in a tweet via his official Twitter account.


On the other hand, an Italian photographer spent two years traveling around the world to take pictures of people with albinism, in an attempt to shed light on the discrimination that still exists against them in many parts of the world, as some of them fear, especially girls who are unable to lead their lives normally for fear of bullying;


And the British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that Silvia Alessi, 44, lives in the Italian city of Bergamo, and has taken pictures of people who suffer from this disorder caused by the complete or partial loss of pigment, whether in the skin and hair, for her last art project after being Inspired by an Instagram post.


And the newspaper reported, that among the pictures of her project are 3 brothers in India who have not been photographed together before and a Kurdish boy with white hair who lives in a house completely decorated in white, and the report indicated that Alessi contacted a number of people who shared their story about their lives with albinism on their website.
