Learn about Al-Ahly and Esperance's journey in the African Champions League before tonight's match


Fans of the ninth round witch are awaiting this evening, Saturday, to follow the fateful meeting that brings together Al-Ahly and Tunisian Esperance at Al-Ahly and Al-Salam Stadium, in the second leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League in a meeting that the Red Genie will enter with high spirits after defeating the Tunisian champion in Rades with a goal without a response scored by Mohamed Sherif.


Al-Ahly's journey

In the first round, Al-Ahly defeated Sunedib (Niger) 5-0 on aggregate.


Al-Ahly was drawn in Group A with Simba (Tanzania), Vita (Democratic Congo) and Al-Merikh (Sudan). Al-Ahly finished the group in second place with 11 points, after winning three matches, drawing twice and losing one.


In the quarter-finals, Al-Ahly defeated South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on aggregate, and then beat Esperance in the first leg of the semi-finals with a goal by Mohamed Sherif.


Esperance's Journey

Esperance (played 11 matches, won 5, drew 3, lost 3, scored 14, conceded 11 goals)


In the first round, Esperance defeated Al-Ahly Benghazi (Libya) 3-2 on aggregate.


Esperance were drawn in Group D with Zamalek (Egypt), Mouloudia Algiers (Algeria) and Tingit (Senegal), and Esperance finished the group at the top with 11 points after winning three matches, drawing twice and losing one.


In the quarter-finals, Esperance defeated Algeria's Chabab Belouizdad on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the two matches, and in the semi-finals, they lost the first leg against Al-Ahly with a 1-0 win.
