Peskov said - in statements reported by (Russia Today) news channel today, Thursday, that this brief document reflects the special responsibility that Moscow and Washington, the two largest nuclear powers, bear before their peoples and the world at large, expressing his conviction that negotiations should be launched on strategic stability and arms control. between Russia and the United States as soon as possible.
The spokesman added that Moscow had warned from the beginning of any high expectations from the summit meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, explaining: "Now we can say, based primarily on the president's own assessments, that the summit was more positive."
He pointed out that the meeting gave Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden an opportunity to brief each other on their positions, and realize what areas of cooperation between Moscow and Washington are possible and areas where cooperation is still impossible due to the complete difference in views between the two countries.
On Wednesday, Putin and Biden held talks in the Swiss city of Geneva, which resulted in the issuance of a joint declaration for them on the launch of Moscow and Washington "the comprehensive bilateral dialogue on strategic stability." The two presidents also held two separate press conferences.
