New evidence reveals that tinnitus is a long-term effect of infection with Corona

Evidence is growing that the Corona virus can be related to annoying tinnitus, as many cases of long-term symptoms of corona have reported tinnitus as one of the extended symptoms after recovering from Corona, according to the "Business Insider" website.

The Guardian reported that a charity in Britain reported a significant rise in tinnitus inquiries between May and December 2020.

And a preliminary study published on March 21 found that 15% of people who had coronavirus reported having tinnitus, 7.6% reported hearing loss, and 7.2% had dizziness, which is also associated with the ears.

Dr. Kevin Monroe, professor of audiology at the University of Manchester and lead author of the study, said that within 24 hours of publishing the study, he received about 100 emails from patients saying they had experienced tinnitus after recovering from Corona.

Monroe said: “We are awaiting a final, high-quality study to confirm this number so far, it is not certain whether the tinnitus is a result of a corona infection.” Monroe stressed, “We know that some viruses can damage the ear, so this is possible with the Corona virus.” .

Measles, mumps, and meningitis can also cause hearing difficulties.

Tinnitus is often the most annoying when we're anxious and stressed and not sleeping well, all of which have been on the rise during epidemic lockdowns. Tinnitus is often characterized as a ringing in the ears, but it can also sound like a buzzing or clicking, Monroe said.

The National Health Service in the United Kingdom lists tinnitus as a common side effect of both people with corona and those who have recovered, but the US Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have not included it with side effects of the Corona virus.

One problem, Monroe said, is that there is no diagnostic test for tinnitus. In most cases, tinnitus is called "subjective," which means that only a patient can hear the noise, although in some rare cases, a doctor can actually hear the tinnitus when Examination.
