The Greek authorities announced that a weekly self-test to detect infection with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) will be compulsory for people working in specific sectors, including education, tourism and courts, in order to safely resume their activities.
Deputy Health Minister Vasilis Kontosamanis said - during a daily press conference last night - that the government will provide test kits for free through pharmacies, starting in the first week of April, in an attempt to obtain a clearer picture of the spread of the Corona virus, according to what was reported by the Greek newspaper "Kathmarini".
Kontosamanis added, "Self-test groups will be used" as a tool "to safely resume certain activities." The gradual return to [economic] activity is accompanied by the commitment of citizens active in sensitive areas to undergo a weekly test. "
According to Kontosamanis, these workers include schools, companies, retail trade, restaurants, tourism, manufacturing, shipping, and shipping, as well as the courts, adding that the government will impose mandatory testing on teachers and students.
